Russia’s nuclear doctrine, which allows for their use in the face of an “existential threat,” serves as the nation’s ultimate defense, Ambassador Denis Alipov stated this week.
This doctrine, he argued, is the reason why Russia cannot be defeated in its war with Ukraine, despite ongoing Western military and economic aid to Kyiv.
“You can’t, you know, take over us in this conflict simply because of our nuclear weapons,” Alipov said at an event in Gurugram.
He was highly critical of European nations, whom he accused of “childish behavior” and “belligerence” for believing a Ukrainian victory is possible.
He also claimed that President Donald Trump “understands” the “futility” of the war and that it is “lost by Ukraine and the West.”
